The Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) is thrilled to announce the highly-anticipated return of the Big Rig Build-Off, a crowd favorite event that promises to once again captivate trucking enthusiasts and industry professionals alike.

Randy Stroup of First Class Services Inc is supporting MATS as the sponsor of Big Rig Build-Off to bring the event back to MATS and create a stage that shines the spotlight on the new generation of elite-level builders.

The competition will be part of the 2024 PKY Championship and will feature builders in a winner-takes-all competition for a grand prize of $20,000. This competition is set to take place at the PKY Lot in front of the West Wing of the Kentucky Exposition Center from March 21 to 23, 2024. Admission is free to all badged MATS attendees.

We have selected four featured builders, primarily past featured entrants in the PKY Truck Beauty Limited Mileage Category, to create builds that highlight uniqueness and creativity. Competing in this event will be Adam Johnson of Johnson Hill Customs, Dustin Dickerson of Dickerson Custom Trucks, Troy Massey of Massey Motor Freight, and Brian and Thomas Davis of Davis Brothers Design.

Adam Johnson is a fourth-generation truck owner and the owner of Johnson Hill Customs, a full-service diesel repair and customization company. Brian and Thomas Davis were originally grain farmers, but now own a full-service custom semi shop based in Owensville, Indiana. Dustin Dickerson began his career in vehicle customization and now owns Dickerson Custom Trucks, a full-service shop operating out of Thorntown, Indiana. Troy Massey and his wife, Abby Massey, founded Massey Motor Freight in 2016. They own multiple businesses, including a full-service shop that offers everything from mechanical work to custom fabrication.

“We’re excited to once again host this special builder’s class as part of the PKY Truck Championships,” said Toby Young, MATS Show Manager. “The level of competition at PKY is always incredible. With the Big Rig Build-Off, the bar is raised that much higher and attendees are going to see some next-level builds unveiled this March.”

A special panel of judges will evaluate each entry based on creativity, craftsmanship, and overall impact. The winner of the competition will be crowned at the PKY Awards Ceremony at 10AM EST on March 23rd.
