How to Hit on Shippers
I would like to talk to carriers about how to make themselves more attractive to shippers. It’s a tough game, getting in front of them and earning their business. But it is doable. Our family business has been doing it for almost 20 years, representing dozens of fleets. We’ll discuss what it takes to get in front of them and what to say, how to position the company, to get contract freight.

The Cost of Insurance Is a Problem. Here’s What Fleets Are Doing About It.
Insurance costs in trucking have reached a breaking point.
Fleets are facing rising premiums, larger deductibles, and tighter terms despite continued investment in safety. With tighter margins and the looming threat of nuclear verdicts, commercial insurance has now become a risk in its own right.
This session explores a different route: captive insurance.
Captives are already used by over 90% of Fortune 500 companies, yet they remain misunderstood or overlooked across much of the trucking industry, including by small and mid-sized fleets with the right risk profile to benefit. Attendees will come away with a practical understanding of how captives work, what it takes to evaluate and implement one, and how they deliver control over your insurance.
The discussion includes a case study of a national motor carrier operating under Owner-Operator and Dispatch models that faced a 50% renewal increase on its auto liability program. We’ll walk through their options and the outcomes the company was able to achieve through captive insurance.
This session is designed for fleet owners, safety leaders, and operations executives who want to understand what’s driving today’s insurance market and what alternatives exist beyond holding your breath at renewal.
Key Takeaways

Why Most Fleets Stall at 25 Trucks
Most trucking companies don’t fail — they stall around 20–30 trucks. What worked at 5 trucks stops working at 25. Profit margins dip, overhead rises, and leadership strain increases. Growth exposes weak systems, unclear roles, and a lack of operational discipline.
In this session, Khalid Ziadat breaks down why scaling a fleet often reduces profit before it increases it — and what must change in leadership, structure, and SOPs to grow sustainably. Attendees will leave with practical strategies to move from owner-dependent operations to scalable, system-driven organizations.

Championing the People Who Move Our Industry: Drivers & Technicians
When the most sophisticated vehicle technology is only as good as the hands that service it, securing the future of our industry depends on empowering the right talent. This talk will go beyond the diagnostics port to address the human factor in our increasingly complex world. Discover why championing our drivers and technicians is one of the most significant challenges facing fleet readiness and how industry-wide collaboration is essential to building a robust pipeline in the workforce.
The ASE Education Foundation and PROJECT 61 have been at the forefront of this mission, working to reshape the perception and reality of a career in transportation service and raising awareness, educating, and providing solutions to improve the health and longevity of the trucking workforce. This session, led by ExxonMobil with George Arrants from the ASE Education Foundation and Jeremy Reymer from PROJECT 61, will unpack the critical steps needed to attract, train, and retain the drivers and technicians who move our industry.
Strategies for Cargo Theft: Beyond Visibility
Cargo theft continues to rise despite widespread adoption of GPS tracking, cameras, and alerts. The reason isn’t lack of visibility, it’s that visibility doesn’t enforce policy. Most theft occurs when decisions are made under pressure: exceptions that turn security into judgment calls.
This session breaks cargo theft down to its structural causes and presents practical strategies carriers can apply today. We’ll show why the threats carriers worry about most — fraudulent brokers, hauling loads that never get paid, trailer theft, pilferage, and mis-direction — all share a common root cause: authorization is informal, implicit, or enforced too late. When carriers are asked to trust offers, identities, and instructions without enforceable authorization, loss becomes inevitable . The cargo disappears or the payment never arrives.
Attendees will learn how carriers can adapt their operations by moving authorization earlier and making it enforceable. That means verifying not just who someone is, but whether this specific load, at this specific time and place, is actually authorized to be executed — before the truck rolls — and then enforcing who is allowed to move, open, and deliver that load during execution. By combining authorization verification (Resolve) with on-asset enforcement (Enforce), fleets can stop theft and fraud without slowing operations while also reducing dispatch workload, improving yard flow, and protecting margins.
This is a practical, operations-first discussion designed for carriers who already have visibility and need something that actually works beyond it.
Driver Legitimacy Initiative Advancing the Framework Behind “Dalilah’s Law”
At MATS, Philip Nenadov will take the stage with Dalilah Coleman — the young woman President Donald Trump introduced at the State of the Union.
Philip will outline Dalilah’s Law, federal legislation now being crafted on Capitol Hill to strengthen CDL integrity, close verification loopholes, and place responsibility on shippers to verify who is actually hauling their freight.
He will address how unqualified drivers undercut lawful owner-operators — and how this reform protects rates, restores fairness, and raises industry standards.
The Driver Legitimacy Initiative is organizing the movement behind Dalilah for one simple principle:
You must know who is hauling the freight.
No more shell games.
No more cheating.
No more looking the other way.
This session is about protecting legitimate drivers — and how you can help move this legislation forward.
Freight Wars: Inside the Hidden Fight for America’s Supply Chain Integrity
Third-generation trucking professional Danielle Chaffin presents an investigative look at systemic fraud in U.S. trucking. Her work exposes shell-company address clusters, data manipulation that defeats standard vetting, and chameleon carriers cycling USDOT numbers to evade violations, crashes, and enforcement. She connects these practices to the post-2018 surge in carrier registrations, rising cargo theft, legacy carrier failures, lax enforcement of English Language Proficiency rules, questionable non-domiciled CDL practices, and persistent regulatory gaps — arguing that poor data quality is the core weakness that enables fraud, safety risks, and market distortion.
