Ellen Voie

Ellen Voie is the founder and CEO of the Women In Trucking Association (WIT). She is constantly implementing new approaches to achieving gender diversity and inclusion within the trucking industry. When Ellen first started WIT 14 years ago, the industry was not concerned about the lack of gender diversity in the trucking industry. She didn’t just have to educate the industry on the benefits of gender diversity and inclusion, but she identified barriers for women and worked to eliminate those obstacles.

In July 2012, she was honored by the White House as a Transportation Innovators Champion of Change. She continues to serve on committees to be a voice of gender diversity in an effort to produce changes at the federal level. More recently, Ellen supported legislation by Senators Moran (R-KS) and Baldwin (D-WI) as well as bipartisan Representatives to introduce the “Promoting Women in Trucking Workforce Act.” This legislation would direct the FMCSA Administrator to create a Women in Trucking Advisory Board and report to congress on the findings and recommendations.

In 2015, Ellen was appointed to serve a two-year term on the FMCSA’s Entry Level Driver Training Advisory Committee. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Motor Carrier Association and is a member of the Wisconsin DOT’s Motor Carrier Advisory Committee. She was involved in adapting the Wisconsin Driver’s Manual to include information on sharing the road with trucks. She also has served as chairwoman of the ATA Safety and Loss Prevention Council’s Recruiting and Retention committee and on the ATA Image and Communications Committee. Ellen served as President of Mensa of Wisconsin/Upper MI from 2010-2014. She also served on the Mensa of Wisconsin Foundation during that time. In 2013, she was elected to the board of directors of American Mensa and served as the Regional Vice Chair for two years. She serves on the board of directors for Transport for Christ International. She has also served on the Saint Christopher’s Fund board of directors and the Truck Writers of North America board of directors. Voie currently serves on the board of directors for the National Transportation Center where she is the Vice Chair.
