Bill Mack

Bill Mack was a staple on country radio, starting all the way back in the 1960s. Mack was known to his listeners as the “Dean of Country Music Disc Jockeys” and “Radio’s Midnight Cowboy” due to him being both a country music DJ and songwriter.

He started in 1969 in Fort Worth, where he hosted the Country Roads Show and played music for overnight truckers. The show was broadcasted from the historic WBAP studios. After that, Mack hosted a show on XM satellite radio for another decade, and then left in 2011. His country songs were recorded by more than five dozen artists. Mack was inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999, and was enshrined in the Country Music DJ and Radio Hall of Fame in 1982.
