Jimmy lost his arm to cancer when he was six years old. He has been a truck driver for 44 years and has never let anything in life stop him. In 2014, he was one of five drivers to receive the Citizens Driver Award. The local truck stop in Manning, SC is named The Jimmy Ardis Travel Center, and is one of his many accomplishments. He is involved in his community, The American Cancer Society, the local Literacy Program, and mentors at the Vocational Center.
He is also a regular on several radio talk shows and has had a book written about his life. Jimmy has been featured in a movie and several magazines. His safety record is impeccable. Jimmy has over 5.5 million plus documented miles without an accident all while driving with a prosthetic arm. Jimmy keeps up with all of the rules and regulations in the trucking industry. He has been to Washington, D.C. and talks to South Carolina Representatives on a regular basis about trucking and truck drivers. He has attended MATS for more than 30 years and is very well known in the industry.
