55 Years of MATS: The Trucking Industry’s Route to Success
The Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS), North America’s largest and longest-running annual heavy-duty trucking event, will celebrate its 55th anniversary when it returns to the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky, on March 18–20, 2027.
For more than five decades, MATS has served as the industry’s annual gathering place, bringing together manufacturers, owner-operators, fleets, dealers, distributors, service providers, and professional drivers to discover new technology, strengthen relationships, and shape the future of trucking. What began in 1972 has grown into the industry’s most trusted marketplace, connecting thousands of companies and trucking professionals through exhibits, education, networking, and unforgettable experiences.
“MATS has always been more than a trade show,” said Toby Young, President of Exhibit Management Associates, producers of the Mid-America Trucking Show. “For 55 years, it has been where the trucking industry comes together to build relationships, exchange ideas, discover new solutions, and celebrate the people who keep our industry moving. This anniversary is an opportunity to honor that legacy while looking ahead to the future of trucking.”
The 55th anniversary will be a celebration of the entire trucking industry and MATS’ part of bringing individuals together to celebrate, year after year.
Attendees will explore more than one million square feet of exhibits featuring the latest trucks, trailers, parts, equipment, technology, maintenance solutions, software, financial services, and business innovations from hundreds of leading companies. Whether discovering new products, comparing solutions side by side, or meeting directly with industry experts, MATS continues to provide unmatched opportunities to make informed business decisions and build lasting partnerships.
Beyond the exhibit halls, attendees can take advantage of an extensive lineup of educational sessions designed to help trucking professionals navigate today’s rapidly evolving industry. From regulatory updates and business strategy to emerging technology, artificial intelligence, maintenance, safety, workforce development, and operational efficiency, the MATS education program provides practical insights from respected industry leaders. These sessions equip attendees with actionable knowledge to improve profitability, increase efficiency, and prepare their businesses for the road ahead.
One of the highlights of the anniversary celebration will take place during the MATS Opening Reception, where the industry will gather to recognize the newest inductees into the Mid-America Trucking Show Wall of Fame.
The Wall of Fame honors individuals whose dedication, leadership, innovation, and service have left a lasting impact on trucking. The Opening Reception will also feature networking opportunities, live entertainment, food, refreshments, and charitable activities, bringing together thousands of industry professionals for one of MATS’ signature traditions.
Throughout the weekend, attendees can also experience many of the special events that have become synonymous with the MATS experience, including the PKY Truck Beauty Championship, Big Rig Build-Off, Ride & Drive, Opening Breakfast, Pro Talks Education Series, and the MAC Trailer Winter Nationals Championship Truck Pull.
Whether attending for the first time or returning as part of a decades-long tradition, MATS 2027 promises to be a celebration of the people, partnerships, and progress that have defined the trucking industry for 55 years.
